Green Dragons is the first bottom-up sustainability project at City University London and it is attracting more and more attention inside and outside the university community. After being featured on HEFCE’s website in March, Green Dragons recently won the best poster award at the Annual Conference on Education for Sustainable Development held by the London Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE). , which will be officially published by SAGE Publications at the beginning of the new year. Green Dragons is now getting ready for the 2nd World Symposium on Sustainable Development at Universities (WSSD-U-2014), where its leaders will present to an international audience and contribute towards shaping the current practice in Education for Sustainable Development. The paper to be presented, “An innovative model of student-led sustainability in higher education, City University London Students’ Union, Green Dragons”, will be published by Springer publications in September 2014.On top of all these, Green Dragons project has been shortlisted for a Green Gown Award 2014 in the Student Engagement category. Now in their tenth year, the Green Gown Awards recognise the exceptional sustainability initiatives being undertaken by universities, colleges and the learning and skills sectors across the UK. With sustainable development moving up the global agenda, the Awards are now established as the most prestigious recognition of sustainability excellence within the tertiary education sector, as well as the environmental sector.
