It wasn’t so long ago that Green Dragons was just an inspired thought that was put to paper and given the nod of approval by the Students’ Green Fund team at the NUS. In fact that was just about four months ago and it’s been all go ever since!
We set up camp in the Students’ Union and threw a party to launch Green Dragons. It was brilliant to share our ideas with so many different people – we talked to members of our local community (including our local MP) as well as students and staff here at CU We also got a chance to talk to loads of you at the Freshers’ Fair. If that’s not enough we even ran two project kick off sessions and we now have some 30 project ideas being developed – we’ve barely time to catch our breath!
It’s really inspiring to see how students and staff at City have responded so positively to the challenge. Some of the project ideas so far include:
- setting up a second hand shop for text books to help students save paper and money,
- helping to protect and encourage the bee population,
- raising awareness of water conservation,
- setting up a shop on campus to sell sustainable and ethical products,
- and there’s even a few ideas for apps to help people live more sustainably.
If you didn’t get a chance to put an idea into the Green Dragons hat then you can still still email us at email@example.com or fill out the form on the blog, and get involved. We really want to hear from our students and staff to join the different Green Dragons groups and help develop and deliver the project ideas.
Green Dragons is all about you and how you’re inspired to create change so let us know what you think. Got any tips or info? We want to hear from you.
